It was run by the owner of a law firm who literally flipped a coin on whether to open a pierogies stand or a comic shop. While he poured tons of money the lawyer paranoia caused him to be untrusting of any of his employees which was the reason that all of them, including me, quit after less than a year - despite pretty much everyone before me - having actual comic shop management experience.
While it is sad when a good comic shop dies, the shop I worked at was bad except for me and the guys who worked before because we knew comics, cared about them and cared about the customer.
And we knew enough to say “don’t order 40 copies of Grimm Fairy Tales just for the variant cover of a comic nobody is going to buy.”
And to my friends in Pittsburgh, Phantom of the Attic is still open next to the library and the natural history museum.
